Chief Scientific Officer and Founder of Applied Biomolecular Technologies
Dr. Zupancic is the Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Applied Biomolecular Technologies (ABT), a biotechnology research and development company focused on the development and commercialization of DNA and protein-based technologies. Prior to starting ABT, he was Chief Scientific Officer of GeneticXchange, a Silicon Valley-based IT company. Here he provided bioinformatics and data integration solutions to the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries. Dr. Zupancic has extensive experience in biotechnology product development beginning with work on the human insulin bioproduction system (Humulin), the first commercialized, FDA-approved Biotech product. His expertise includes development of rapid and sensitive molecular detection systems and diagnostics, genomics, genetic engineering and development of bioproduction processes. He holds 17 US patents. Dr. Zupancic has a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Indiana University, where he was a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at The Ohio State University where he graduated from Phi Beta Kappa and With Distinction in Genetics.
